This is a make it work moment because so many of us have lost power as a result of Hurricane Irma. We have tons of food in our fridge and don’t want it to go to waste. So here are some tips.
Keep your fridge and freezer CLOSED. The more you open it the faster everything will go bad because you are letting all of the cold air out.
If you have things in your fridge that fit in your freezer – move them there.
Make every meal out of what you have in your fridge and freezer. Save your canned goods and other foods for AFTER you have emptied your fridge and freezer out.
Try to go for the food in your fridge first, then attack the freezer.
If you have leftovers around, heat them up on your grill and enjoy. You can use a cast iron skillet or other grill safe pan.
Get creative! I got my grill going and threw some Hilary’s Eat Well burgers on with some Better Bean. When those were almost ready I threw some Siete on there. I wrapped the burgers in the tortillas and filled them with the beans. It really was that easy. I honestly would’ve eaten that even if I did have power because those are some of my favs! 🙂
